The ZC500 tandem twin-rotors unmanned helicopter is a multi-purpose UAV proposed by the company after 7 years' development and test. The project was established in 2014, while the first tandem twin-rotors unmanned helicopter ZC45 and the corresponding Lingxiang flight control system based on the overall structure and aerodynamic layout were developed in 2017. After ZC300 in 2019, ZC500 was officially launched in 2021.
The main advantage of the tandem twin-rotors configuration is its large longitudinal center of gravity range, resulting in a large payload space for the fuselage, especially in terms of material delivery. On the contrary, conventional configurations of helicopters need to obey strict requirements for cargo loading. After changing the load or adjusting the loading position, the center of gravity needs to be rebalanced. Center of gravity deviation is a very dangerous factor for conventional configuration helicopters, which poses great difficulties for users. The longitudinal twin-rotors configuration helicopter has a wide range of center of gravity, and high adaptability to changes in mounting position and payload weight, without the need for users to accurately balance the center of gravity. In emergency rescue, material delivery and other scenarios, valuable time can be saved and rescue efficiency can be greatly improved.
