On May 14th, a retrofitted Wing Loong II UAV was dispatched to join the 2021 Emergency Mission exercise.
The exercise is organized by China State Council, supported by the Ministry of Emergency Management and Sichuan Province, aiming for earthquake rescue and relief.
During the exercise, the Wing Loong II carried flight for disaster evaluation and emergency communication. The onboard payload provided public mobile communication for over 50 km2 and built an audio and video communication network covering 15000 km2 for commanding and decision-making.
The exercise was conducted at Ya’an City, where the catastrophic Wenchuan Earthquake happened in 2008.
